1 million trees in 1 hour: Telangana aims for world record – Deccan News

Hyderabad: Green India Challenge, an initiative of Rajya Sabha member J. Santosh Kumar to improve green cover, entered its fourth year on Sunday in an effort to destroy one million trees in one hour in Telangana’s Adilabad district plant to enter the Guinness Book of World Records.

The program was organized on the occasion of TRS MLA Jogu Ramanna’s 58th birthday.

Santosh Kumar, Telangana’s Minister of Forests and Environment A. Indra Karan Reddy, along with Jogu Ramanna, testified to active and enthusiastic participation of the general public in the massive program. TRS members, MLAs, political leaders and others committed to saving the environment took part.

During the event, 5 lakh trees were planted by the Miyawaki model in the degenerate forest area spread over 200 hectares in Durganagar of rural Adilabad. In a span of 60 minutes, two trees were planted in the Adilabad Rural Bela Mandal. As many as 1.80 lakh trees have been planted in the urban region. Volunteers ensured the planting of 1.20 lakh trees on either side of the R&B road.

The program was planned and successfully implemented by dividing the entire region into 10 sectors in which more than 30,000 TRS members and locals participated.

With this Green India Challenge hopes to find a place in the Guinness Book of World Records by planting Turkey’s record of 303,000 trees set in 2019.

The organizers say that the entire program has been recorded according to the standards and will be sent to Guinness Book World Records.

Santosh Kumar congratulated Jogu Ramanna on committing himself to this noble cause on his birthday and encouraged everyone to take care of the trees. Indra Karan Reddy said at the event that the pandemic makes everyone realize how important it is to protect the environment and climate.

Representatives of Wonder Book of Records gave the organizers a certificate of appreciation after observing the plantations in the Durga Nagar region.

Jogu Ramanna thanked everyone for participating in Green India Challenge and expressed his gratitude that it made it a great success. On this occasion, the MLA donated two ambulances to RIMS Hospital.
