Elanora, QLD: Concern for high risk woman

Police are searching for a mother and son after the 61-year-old vanished from her home moments after reporting an alleged home invasion.

Emergency crews were called to Wendy Sleeman’s Gold Coast home at 3.30pm on Tuesday after reports of a home invasion.

When they arrived at the scene they discovered blood at the scene and evidence of a fire but

Mrs Sleeman could not be found.

The 61-year-old’s disappearance is being treated as “high-risk” and police have now revealed it was likely a “targeted” attack.

Officers are looking for her 30-year-old son who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

“I am concerned about his state of mind and the risk to people who may try to interact with him,” Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith told reporters.

The 30-year-old is said to be driving a blue Honda Jazz with the Queensland registration 952AT4.

The public are urged not to approach the man and to contact police urgently if they see him.

He is described as caucasian, 180cm tall, brown hair, slim build.

A number of investigators remain at the scene on Wednesday morning where the home has been cordoned off.
