The Daily Telegraph unveils special series highlighting truth behind Australia’s housing crisis
Sydneysiders looking for a slice of the property market could face an uphill battle as 12 interest rate rises are magnified by a property price surge due to migration.
A new documentary series by The Daily Telegraph is set to highlight the ongoing housing crisis in Sydney, which many parts of the country are also facing.
The series will look through the lens of Australians struggling with record-high rental prices and the country’s never-before-seen levels of homelessness.
The Daily Telegraph Journalist John Rolfe investigates what is causing young families to be faced with the nightmare scenario of never owning their own home.
“What we’re seeing is a record decline in housing affordability in Sydney and other parts of the country,” Mr Rolfe told Sky News Australia.
“Rents are going up by 20 per cent a year which is faster than at any other point in history and you’ve got homelessness in New South Wales at an all-time high.”
