‘Enormous human tragedy’ unfolding in Turkey and Syria

Shadow Foreign Minister Simon Birmingham says there is an “enormous human tragedy” unfolding in Turkey and Syria after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the region on Monday.

At least 3,500 are confirmed dead with officials warning the death toll is set to rise.

“What we are seeing from these earthquakes that have struck these regions is an enormous loss of life, a huge destruction of building(s) and of infrastructure,” Mr Birmingham told Sky News Australia.
