The ABC has publicly apologised to Alice Springs Deputy Major Jacinta Price after she launched defamation proceedings towards the public broadcaster for its protection of her ‘Mind the Gap’ talking tour in 2019.
The incident associated to a presentation Ms Price delivered in Coffs Harbour on September 10 and the defamation go well with associated to the ABC’s protection the next morning of claims made by the Coffs Harbour and District Local Aboriginal Land Council.
In paperwork lodged with the federal courtroom Jacinta Price claimed the land council and the ABC had falsely accused her of vilifying aboriginal individuals and their tradition.
The ABC issued an apology to Ms Price this morning and famous the land council had withdrawn and apologised to Ms Price for statements which it accepted have been incorrect.
ABC Radio Breakfast Presenter Fiona Poole stated, “the ABC understands that the land council has withdrawn and apologised to Ms Price for statements contained in that media release which it accepts were false and defamatory”.
An out of courtroom settlement has been reached between the ABC and Ms Price.
