Rujira Banerjee, the wife of Trinamool CongressMP Abhishek Banerjee, Monday responded to the Central Bureau of Investigation’s summons within the alleged coal pilferage rip-off and requested the central company to ship its team to her residence for examination on Tuesday, officers stated.
The CBI had on Sunday requested her to be part of the probe.
A team of CBI officers had visited the residence of Abhishek Banerjee, a nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, on Sunday to ship the summons however Rujira was not current.
She responded to the summons on Monday and requested the CBI to visit her residence between 11 am and three pm on Tuesday.
“Though I am unaware of the reason for me being called for questioning or the subject matter of the investigation, you may visit my residence as per your convenience between 11 am and 3 pm tomorrow, i.e. 23 February, 2021,” she stated in her letter to CBI.
“You are requested to kindly inform me your schedule,” she stated.
CBI examines Abhishek’s sister-in-law in coal theft case
A team of CBI visited the residence of TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee’s sister-in-law Menaka Gambhir in Kolkata on Tuesday to look at her in reference to the coal pilferage case, officers stated.
