‘Accountability is everything’: MP and veteran slams ABC

Liberal MP and veteran Phillip Thompson says media outlets like the ABC need to be held accountable when they make incorrect allegations against the brave men and women who fight for the country.

“We can wind back to the Brereton Report where we saw trial by media on our most bravest. We saw armchair politicians sitting there in their $5,000 suits yelling how bad our soldiers have been,” Mr Thompson told Sky News Australia.

“When all that was, was allegations. There was no proof of evidence.

“We saw media outlets like the ABC running that all these soldiers were guilty of war crimes, which has come out to be factually incorrect and these people have been cleared.

“Something needs to happen. An apology is not good enough, it needs to go further than that.
