A new homeowner found a decomposing body in the basement of his new house, Ohio officials say.
The new resident purchased his home in a foreclosure sale and was checking out the Cleveland Heights property on Tuesday, Nov. 29, when he discovered the body, officials said, according to WJW.
The Cuyahoga County medical examiner identified the body as Nina Fielden, 71, who was the home’s previous owner, WOIO reported. Fielden’s body showed “no signs of trauma,” the examiner said.
It is unclear why the body was not discovered before the home was sold, WEWS reported.
Police said they are still investigating the incident.
Cleveland Heights is about 10 miles east of Cleveland.
