Duke vs Florida State basketball game: How to watch, stream
Durham
No. 17 Duke had an extended holiday break to ruminate over the upset loss it suffered at Wake Forest on Dec. 20.
How the Blue Devils respond to that 81-70 loss to the Demon Deacons will be displayed on Saturday against Florida State at 1 p.m.
Duke (10-3, 1-1 ACC) hasn’t played since that night in Winston-Salem, when its lone lead was a brief 4-2 advantage against a Wake Forest team that had lost 81-57 at Rutgers three days earlier. The dud of a performance included Duke shooting 44.1% while making just 8 of 27 3-pointers.
Part of the reason can be chalked up to personnel as the Blue Devils played without freshmen Dereck Lively and Dariq Whitehead. Both were not on the trip with the team due to illness. Both are expected to be available against Florida State on Saturday.
Their return will certainly give Duke a boost, even if the two projected first-round picks in this summer’s NBA Draft have not played to their full potential yet due to their preseason injuries.
Normally a perennial contender for the ACC title, Florida State (4-10, 2-1) struggled in nonconference play. But after starting 1-9, the Seminoles have won three of their past four games, including ACC wins over Louisville, 75-53, on Dec. 10, and Notre Dame, 73-72, on Dec. 21.
Teams have made 33.8% of their 3-pointers against Florida State’s defense, so that could be an area for Duke to show improvement. The Blue Devils are a 31.8% 3-point shooting team this season.
