Rita’s Italian ice: Get a free one on first day of spring

Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard is celebrating the return of spring with a giveaway — and all you have to do is show up.

Customers who stop by a Rita’s on March 20 can get a free Italian ice in the flavor of their choice, the frozen treat chain announced. The freebie is part of Rita’s annual “First Day of Spring” celebration.

No purchase is necessary.

Each treat comes served in a 7 oz. limited-edition cup marking the springtime event. The giveaway will last from noon until 9 p.m. local time at participating locations nationwide.

Customers can also top off their Italian ice with scoop of custard for an extra fee.

“We’re excited to continue our beloved Italian Ice giveaway tradition on the First Day of Spring as we take pride in lifting the spirits of many of our fans across the country as spring means warmer weather is on its way,” Linda Chadwick, CEO of Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard, said in a statement.

The annual giveaway has been a Rita’s tradition for more than 30 years.
