A Maryland dad received “the best Father’s Day gift” when he won a six-figure lottery prize.
The Bowie man purchased a $10 Six Figures scratch-off ticket from a 7-Eleven on Father’s Day, June 18, according to a June 22 news release from the Maryland Lottery.
Upon checking the results, he realized he’d won $100,000, the game’s top prize.
“I hollered and shouted because I couldn’t believe it,” he told lottery officials.
“Last week, I won $1,000, this week $100,000, maybe next week I’ll hit a million,” he added.
The man plans to use his winnings to pay medical bills from a recent surgery and assist his children financially, officials said.
Bowie is located about 20 miles northeast of Washington, D.C.
