Base fares of auto, taxi in Mumbai hiked by INR 3 amid the increase in fuel rates

As the worth of petrol and diesel is considerably skyrocketing day by day, the base fares for autos and taxis have been hiked by INR 3 throughout the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Initially, the base fare for taxis in the metropolis was INR 22. Now, it has been elevated to INR 25. Similarly, the minimal fare for auto-rickshaws has gone from INR 18 to INR 21.

Earlier, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA) reportedly determined to carry a gathering on Monday, February 22 to overview a hike in fares.

Auto drivers mentioned that that they had been struggling for the previous 5 years as there has not been a single paise hike regardless of rise in prices of fuel, upkeep, insurance coverage. Several drivers mentioned that they had no earnings throughout April to June in 2020.
