BJP all set to retain power in all 6 major Municipal Corporations including Ahmedabad in Gujarat
In Gujarat, Bharatiya Janata Party is all set to retain power in all the six major Municipal Corporations including Ahmedabad.
AIR Correspondent studies that BJP has emerged victorious on 325 seats whereas Congress has gained 36 seats of the entire 575 seats of six Municipal Corporations. Aam Aadmi Party has gained eight seats whereas Bahujan Samaj Party gained three seats and an impartial candidate bought one seat. The counting of votes continues to be underway.
State Election Commission stated, the ruling BJP has gained 67 seats in Ahmedabad, 65 in Vadodara, 58 in Rajkot, 50 in Jamnagar, 31 in Bhavnagar whereas 53 in Surat Municipal Corporation. On the opposite hand, Congress has bought 9 seats in Ahmedabad, 11 in Jamnagar, 5 in Bhavnagar, seven seats in Vadodara whereas 4 in Rajkot.
The polling was carried out on twenty first of February for the six Municipal Corporations including Surat, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar and Rajkot. By-polls for the 2 seats of Junagadh Municipal Corporation had been additionally held on the identical day.
