China’s reaction to AUKUS alliance ‘almost theatrical’

China's reaction to the new AUKUS alliance and Australia's nuclear submarine deal has been "so predictable" that it's "almost theatrical," according to Sky News host Chris Kenny.

On Thursday, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States announced a new trilateral strategic alliance.

The alliance will see Australia acquire a fleet of nuclear-powered submarines.

The news has been met with criticism by Chinese media, and has been labelled as "clear provocation" of Beijing and a "military threat".

Mr Kenny said this response is "hysterical".

"It is unhinged stuff."
