COVID-19: First lot of Russian vaccine Sputnik V arrives in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A flight carrying the primary lot of Sputnik V vaccines from Russia, landed in Hyderabad, Telangana on Saturday.

Last month, the Drug Controller General (DCGI) had issued permission for Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories to import the Russian vaccine to India for emergency use.

The rollout of the Russian vaccine is predicted to reinforce India’s third section of the vaccination drive which commenced immediately amid a file rise in COVID-19 circumstances.

Earlier, the Indian envoy to Russia Bala Venkatesh Varma had mentioned that India expects between 150,000 to 200,000 ready-made vaccines to be out there in a short time in the early half of May.

Diplomatic sources had instructed ANI that India will get a substantive quantity of vaccines in the primary tranche and the availability will proceed in installments. India is anticipating 5 million vials of Sputnik vaccines by the following month.
