Covid-19 outbreak hits AFL draft

A staff member who attended the first night of the 2021 AFL Draft has tested positive to Covid-19, the AFL has confirmed.

In a statement released Thursday, the AFL said the staff member was present at Marvel Stadium, before attending an official event at the London Tavern in Richmond, where they had “minimal contact” with others.

Those in attendance, including highly-rated first-round draft picks Finn Callaghan, Nick Daicos, Sam Darcy and Mac Andrew, have been instructed to monitor for symptoms.

“The AFL encourages everyone in the community to closely follow the Victorian Government and AFL health protocols and guidelines in place and to continue to monitor for symptoms,” the AFL said in a statement.
