Credlin: It’s now ‘a lot easier’ for Scott Morrison to win next election

Sky News host Peta Credlin says “today’s changes” in the Labor Party have made it “a lot easier” for Prime Minister Scott Morrison to succeed in the next election.

Labor MP Joel Fitzgibbon announced his plan to retire at the next election on Monday, and last Friday Senator Kristina Keneally announced her plans to run in the safe Labor Western Sydney seat of Fowler.

Ms Credlin said any political party “that loses Fitzgibbon but keeps Keneally is going backwards”.

“If she (Keneally) is that good, with such a big profile, why isn’t she being put to use in a key marginal seat or sent out to Hunter to try and hold coal country on the back of Fitzgibbon’s departure,” Ms Credlin said.

“It would be deeply ironic wouldn’t it, were Anthony Albanese to fail to win next year because his hand-picked candidate couldn’t hold the hitherto safe Labor seat of Fowler.”
