Victorian premier Daniel Andrews has slammed a series of construction worker protests across Melbourne, saying the rallies “will not work”.
Hundreds of tradies gathered outside CFMEU headquarters on Monday morning.
Many of them were not wearing masks and early images from the scene showed pushing and shoving outside the building.
It comes just three days after tradies took to the streets on Friday, protesting mandatory vaccines and bans on tea rooms.
“I have nothing but respect for the people who do the building of our city … but there would be a whole bunch of people at home because their industry is shut and they would be scratching their heads about why anyone would be protesting about being open,” Mr Andrews said.
The Premier described the rally as an illegal gathering, paving the way for arrests or fines.
More to come.
