DR Congo announces ‘state of siege’ in two provinces: gvt spokesperson

President of the Democratic Republic of Congo Felix Tshisekedi introduced a “state of siege” late Friday in two troubled provinces in the east of the nation racked by violence from armed teams.

“Taking into account the gravity of the situation… the president informed the cabinet of his decision to proclaim a state of siege in the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri,” stated spokesperson Patrick Muyaya. st/ybl/reb/rma
