Medical insurers are holding back nearly $2 billion of unspent cash

The Australian Medical Association (AMA) is among a number of medical bodies calling for the government to investigate health insurance companies over accumulated unspent cash.

A report revealed money held back by health funds due to COVID-19 medical delays had reached nearly $2 billion.

The AMA is seeking answers on why unclaimed funds have been used on management expenses rather than reducing customer’s premiums.
