Electricity Bill will burden ryots: Telangana

HYDERABAD: Telangana energy officers knowledgeable the Ministry of Power that there was no change within the State authorities’s stand on the Electricity Amendment Bill, 2020. During a video convention held by Union Power Minister RK Singh with all States on Wednesday, officers from TS Transco and Genco mentioned that the State authorities was towards the privatisation of energy distribution firms. 

The Union Power Minister, in keeping with sources, primarily focussed on six necessary factors of the Bill – fixing meters for agricultural pump units, franchise system in energy distribution, appointment of Electricity Regulatory Commission chairman and members, improve in renewable power utilization and implementation of 19 per cent renewable energy buy obligations of the whole put in energy capability of the State. 

The Union Minister mentioned that permitting franchise system in energy distribution was inevitable to make the Discoms worthwhile.  However, State authorities mentioned that it had been giving big subsidies to the farm sector, and as soon as the proposed Bill was adopted by the Parliament, farmers must pay the payments.
