Facebook to Restore Australia News Pages as Deal Reached on Media Payment Law

Facebook stated Tuesday it would raise a contentious ban on Australian information pages, after the federal government agreed to amend a world-first media regulation fiercely opposed by the tech large. 

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg and Facebook indicated a compromise had been reached on key points of a regulation that may pressure international tech corporations to pay information corporations for content material that seems on their platforms.

“As a result of these changes, we can now work to further our investment in public interest journalism, and restore news on Facebook for Australians in the coming days,” stated Will Easton, managing director of Facebook Australia.

The social media agency sparked international outrage final week by blacking out information for its Australian customers and inadvertently blocking a collection of non-news Facebook pages linked to all the pieces from most cancers charities to emergency response providers.
