Fallen US Service Members Brought Home After Kabul Airport Attack

A ramp ceremony was held at Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport on August 27 for the 13 United States service members who were killed in a suicide bombing there the previous day. These photographs show service members bringing flag-draped transfer cases to a military aircraft on the runway of the airport. The US Marines said in a tweet that the fallen service members “died while supporting non-combat operations in Kabul” and were “gone, but never forgotten.” The remains of the 13 arrived at Dover Air Force Base on Sunday, August 29, where a dignified transfer was attended by US President Joe Biden.
