Homecoming Season for the World’s Biggest T20 League

One of the most important aspects of the upcoming IPL season is that the tournament comes back to India after a season in the UAE. As we have been witnessing around the world, the games will be played in empty stands and there will be no home games for the teams. However, this is not likely to dampen the spirits of millions of cricket fans around the world. With the mega auction coming up next year, most of the teams are likely to undergo a major revamp. This is something that makes this season of the Indian Premium League extra special for all eight teams.

Where do the Teams Stand?

As always, all eight teams look excellent on pen and paper. However, yet again, the focus will remain on the most successful teams in the history of the league. Naturally, defending champions and five-time title winners Mumbai Indians will start as favorites once again. With some of the biggest power hitters, the Rohit Sharma led team looks as solid as ever. However, things don’t look as good for the second most successful IPL franchisee Chennai Super Kings. However, the spotlight would still remain on them because this is probably the last season for its charismatic leader Mahindra Singh Dhoni. It would be interesting to find out what the best ever finisher of the game has in store for us in his last tourney. Kolkata Knight Riders will be another force to reckon with under the leadership of its new captain Eoin Morgan. Also, Delhi Capitals will be pinning hopes on their young guns under the makeshift captain Rishabh Pant, who is also known for his extraordinary six hitting capabilities.

Stars to Follow

Given the number of superstars in each of the teams, it is difficult to single out just a few. However, the fans have sky-high expectations of some of their players. For example, Mumbai Indians will once again expect Rohit Sharma to lead from the front with his superb hitting. The Delhi Capitals team is packed with hard hitting batsmen, but all eyes will be on the young Rishabh Pant. After a disappointing last year, Kolkata Knight Riders would be expecting a fit Andre Russell to come good this year. Some other stars you just can’t ignore are Josh Butler from Rajasthan Royals, David Warner from Sunrisers Hyderabad, Nicolas Pooran from Punjab Kings, Suresh Raina from Chennai Super Kings, and AB de Villiers from Royal Challengers Bangalore.
