Gujarat: Covid-19 infections increasing, Flying kites in groups banned

In Gujarat, the new cases of Covid19 infections are constantly increasing. The state has reported 9941 new cases, which is the highest since the last 8 months. AIR Ahmedabad correspondent reports that the State government is taking a series of steps to check the spread of infections. According to the state health department, the maximum 3843 new cases were recorded in Ahmedabad, while Surat recorded 2505 new cases yesterday.

 
The state has 43726 active cases at present, out of these 51 patients are on ventilator support. Ahmedabad Municipal corporation has declared 18 new micro containment zones. At present, Ahmedabad has 180 active micro containment zones. Gujarat Technological University- GTU has postponed the offline examinations due to a surge in Covid19 infections.  Meanwhile, the authorities have announced new restrictions in view of Makar Sankranti and Uttarayan festival tomorrow. Flying kites in groups with friends and relatives have been banned following the spike in Covid19 cases.
