Happy Birthday MS Dhoni: Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli lead wishes as former Indian skipper turns 40

Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni turned 40 on Wednesday, July 7. One of the best wicket-keeper batsmen to ever play the game, Dhoni, who retired from international cricket last year on India’s independence day, has become one year older.

The only Indian captain to win three ICC trophies, the former skipper may have hung his boot from international cricket, he is still going strong in the shortest format of the game in the Indian Premier League (IPL) leading from the front of the Chennai Super Kings.

As soon as the clock ticked 12 in India, the wishes started pouring in for the 40-year old from all around the world. The fans, Indian cricketers and some of the overseas as well chipped in with their wishes for the former skipper.

Legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter and wrote, “A colleague, captain & friend! Happy Birthday, Mahi. Wishing you a wonderful year ahead full of joy and good health.” Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who has maintained that Dhoni will always remain his captain wished Dhoni with a special picture saying, “Happy birthday skip.”

BCCI secretary Jay Shah too wished MS Dhoni on his birthday, “Happy birthday to the man of patience and a tactical genius who changed the way of Indian cricket. You are an inspiration for many budding cricketers. Wishing you a great year ahead #Captaincool @msdhoni!!”

Suresh Raina, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Virender Sehwag, David Warner were among many others, who also wished their best for Dhoni on his day.
