Hyderabad police thwart Sharmila’s march for justice – Deccan News

Hyderabad: Police in Hyderabad have repulsed a protest rally by YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader YS Sharmila, which held a rally in which the family of a six-year-old girl was raped and killed last week.

Police on Thursday ended in the early hours of the morning with violence the protest march of Sharmila and moved her to her home in Jubleat Hills, just hours before it revealed that the body of the rail trace was found.

The daughter of the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, has been holding a sit-in near the victim’s residence in the Singareni colony in the Saidabad area since Wednesday night.

Police came into action after midnight and dispersed YSRTP workers sitting with Sharmila. Police women forcibly moved Sharmila to a police vehicle and she was later dropped off at her residence.

After calling the victim’s family, Sharmila protested. She promised to hold on to the fast until justice is done to the family.

She is demanding compensation of R10 million from the victim’s family. She expressed concern about the crime rate in the state and said that sexual assaults on women increased during the TRS regime.

Sharmila’s mother and YSRCP Party (YSRCP)’s honorary president YS Vijayamma also appealed to the victim’s family. She said there was an urgent need to stop horrific incidents of rape of underage girls.

Vijayamma claims that when Rajasekhara Reddy was the minister, such incidents never happened. She remembers that when the acid attack took place in Warangal, the culprits were brought to justice.

The YSRCP leader wanted to know why no leader of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) visited the victim’s family to express solidarity, while almost all the opposition leaders paid a visit to comfort the family.
