J&K: One terrorist captured alive, another killed as Army foils infiltration bid in Uri sector
Army today said that more than a week long operation against the infiltrators ended along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri Sector of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, with the killing of a terrorist and capturing another alive.
Speaking to media in Uri this afternoon, Major General Virendra Vats, General Officer Commanding of 19 Infantry Division of the Army, said the military operation started on the night of 18th September when a search party observed the movement of infiltrators on LoC.
He said the infiltrators were 6 in number. Four among them took advantage of darkness and returned to Pakistan after a gunfight while two were holed up in a nallah. He said during the gunbattle, one infiltrator was killed while another was captured alive. Major General said, terrorist captured by the army has revealed that he is affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Lieutenant General said, a large haul of arms and ammunition was recovered from the area.
