Jokic Stars as Nuggets Level Series With Blazers | Sports Pundit

The Denver Nuggets have levelled their series against the Portland Trail Blazers with a 128-109 win on Monday with MVP candidate Nikola Jokic dominant.

Big Nuggets center Jokic finished with 38 points, including two three-pointers, with eight rebounds and five assists to lead his side to victory and a 1-1 ledger.

The Nuggets started strongly in a high-scoring first-half, leading by 12 points at the main break, although Damian Lillard was firing for the Blazers.

Lillard had an equal playoffs high eight three-pointers in the first half, with 32 points to his name.

The Blazers guard finished with 42 points, with four rebounds and 10 assists, while CJ McCollum added 21 points too.

Lillard only managed 10 points in the second half with Aaron Gordon shutting him down.

Denver coach Michael Malone said: “At halftime, after the 32-point first half, we said, ‘You know what, let’s throw Aaron Gordon on him.’ That’s one of the reasons we brought AG here is that defensive versatility.

“Obviously, he embraced it, he wanted it. That’s the best part about it: This is something Aaron Gordon has been wanting to do.”

Elsewhere on Monday, the Milwaukee Bucks won 132-98 over the Miami Heat, led by Giannis Antetokounmpo with 31 points, 13 rebounds and six assists.

Bryn Forbes had 22 points for the Bucks and Jrue Holiday contributed 11 points, seven rebounds and 15 assists.

Giannis said: “It feels good when guys are knocking down shots. We were seeing the ball go in, we were making stops, it felt good. Weve got to stay locked in for game three.”
