Kiernan Shipka Shares Her Date-Worthy Makeup Look

“There are few products I swear by, and this is one I truly think is just fantastic,” says actor Kiernan Shipka of Biologique Recherche’s Lotion P50. She applies the coveted formula with her hands after starting her routine with a water rinse. “My first step is usually just wiping my face with some water; I normally don’t use a cleanser in the morning. I wake up very groggy and tired, and if I can expedite the process in any way I will.” While this philosophy is carried through her simplified skin-care and makeup regimen, her beauty cabinet is stocked with holy-grail offerings that are known to perform well. “I’ve struggled with my skin before—I’ve suffered from bouts of cystic acne. That started as a teen, and I think that’s what made me focused on my skin-care routine,” she notes.

When it comes to self-care, the actor learned the power of pivoting her wellness priorities through her work on Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. “There were a couple moments when I just felt completely burnt out and had to start taking a good hard look at what I was doing outside of work and readjust. I think that compromises are a good thing if you’re doing a job you love.”

Shipka continues her skin routine with a bit of both the Biologique Recherche Iso-Placenta and Extraits Tissulaires serums, which has a scent she has grown to love in part because it reminds her that the serums are working. “Moisturizer is my favorite part of my skin-care routine—I wouldn’t feel complete without it,” she says before mixing two hydrators by Environ with Tizo’s SheerFoam SPF 30

“I usually find that when getting my makeup done for an event or for a shoot, I peep the products that the makeup artist is using and if I see something new that I like I’ll buy it,” she says of her ever-exploratory approach. The actor opts for a primer by Chanel to prep her skin followed by Koh Gen Do’s foundation and a Chanel concealer. After buffing all of this in with a Beautyblender, Shipka moves onto brows, emphasizing her technique to brush her hairs upward with Chantecaille’s Full Brow Perfecting Gel, then taking a spoolie to define their shape and remove any excess product.
