Maharashtra: 22 villages in Wardha district administrated 1st COVID dose to all people

In Maharashtra, in order to overcome the COVID-19 crisis the Wardha District Administration began vaccination campaign in the district from January. However, due to shortage of vaccine, the Administration faced many peroblems to run the campaign. Despite the obstacles, 22 villages in the district have completed the vaccination by covering all people with the first dose. Now, the Administration aims to complete second dose for all citizens. As per the government data, so far four lakh 63 thousand 618 persons have been tested for Corona in all the eight talukas of the district. of these, 49,417 persons were found positive. Till date, 48,080 people recovered from the infection while total 1,326 people have lost their lives.

However, with coordinated efforts the spread of infection reduced drastically and today there are only seven active cases in the entire district. After the first wave of Corona was under control in December and  the Admistration laid emphasis on vaccination since the begining of this year to prevent second wave of Corona. Various measures have been taken by the District Administration and Health Department to speed up vaccination. Health workers along with Sarpanch, Deputy Sarpanch, members and Anganwadi workers raised awareness among the people to dispel misconceptions about vaccination.

District Guardian Minister Sunil Kedar, District Collector Prerna Deshbhratar, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Dr. Sachin Ombase have come with an idea to award a special fund of five lakh rupees to the first three Gram Panchayats in each taluka who complete both the doses of vaccine 100 per cent. As a result, the efforts are underway to complete 100 vaccination  by organizing camps in villages. The District Administration is providing all possible assistance to villages to meet the aim.
