Mayor Pednekar Directs Seizure of Illegally Stockpiled Gas Cylinders at Borivali After Complaint on Twitter

Recently, a citizen redressal discussion board raised the difficulty of gasoline cylinders being piled up illegally at a residential space in Kandivali. Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar was tagged in a tweet with the grievance. Much to the shock of the discussion board members, civic officers in addition to the Deputy Mayor Suhas Wadkar, reached the placement inside two hours and seized a dozen of the stacked cylinders. 

The grievance was raised by Mumbai North Central District Forum (@MNCDFbombay) by way of Twitter. 

“Ma’am Mayor @KishoriPednekar bringing to ur urgent notice, trucks turned into Gas cylinder godowns. As per ur request we’re tagging @mybmc! BMC, Police & State Govt will be solely responsible in case of mishap. Location: Near Poinsur Gymkhana near Pushpanjali Build, Kandivali (W),” the tweet learn.

Member of the discussion board, lawyer Trivan Karnani stated that the choice to get Pednekar’s consideration got here after the Mayor lately requested residents to submit complaints about unlawful holding and piling of gasoline cylinders of their areas. 

Karnani talked about that this specific grievance got here from a resident of Poinsur, Borivali West. “Generally, one does not see such speedy action however sensitive the issue maybe, but this time, it coming from the mayor herself was definitely welcome,” Karnani stated.

Additional Municipal Commissioner of the R Central Ward, Sanjay Kurhade stated, “The trucks with many gas cylinders park in residential areas and undertake distribution which can be harmful. Ideally, they should distribute them from the godown itself. Therefore, we seized some.”

Speaking to TOI, Mayor Pednekar stated that addressing a citizen’s issues is at all times a precedence. “Whichever issues I feel can be resolved immediately I step up and give directions to get it done,” she was quoted as saying.

Deputy Mayor Wadkar talked about that he was at the inauguration of a chowk when he obtained the decision from the Mayor to deal with the difficulty instantly. 

“She told me to go myself and ensure action is taken. I called up local police and BMC officials, and headed to the site,” Wadkar stated.
