Mumbai: Slight Dip In COVID-19 Case Count In Contrast To September 15

In Greater Mumbai’s area, the total covid positive patients were 446 on September 16, highlighted data from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). This is a marginal dip when the numbers of September 15 are considered that was 514.

The total tests done, on the other hand, were significantly higher at 44,649, in contrast to 29,886 on September 15. The total covid deaths stood at 2, whose figure on Wednesday was 4. The two deaths reported on Thursday, suffered from co-morbidities, were male and were above 60 years of age. In addition to this, the number of positive patients who recovered and were discharged on Thursday was 431.

With this latest update in figures, the recovery rate of the island city now stands at 97%, with the overall growth rate of coronavirus cases in Mumbai between September 9 to September 15 at 0.06%. The doubling rate of the city is presently at 1279 days.

Interestingly, there are no active containment zones in the city as of Thursday, but the number of active sealed buildings rose to 39 which on Wednesday was at 37. Moreover, high-risk contact tracing undertaken in the last 24 hours was at 3,072. 

The civic authority has also decided to dedicate one day in a week for covid-19 vaccination for women in the city.
