Munnar beckons tourists with misty mornings: Check out KSRTC’s December packages

Munnar: As winter sets in, the picturesque hill station of Munnar has begun to beckon visitors from far and wide with its frosty mornings. The lowest temperature in the hill station on Tuesday plummeted to 6 degrees Celsius and the entire region remains blanketed in extreme cold during the mornings. In the estate regions of Lakkad, Kundala, and Chenduvara, the morning temperature hovered around 6 degrees while in places like Mattupetty, Kannimala, and Thenmala, it was 7 degrees Celsius. The morning temperatures reported in Munnar Town and the Nalla Thanni area were slightly higher at 9 degrees Celsius.

Adding to its charm, the destination is also reporting snowfall during the mornings and evenings. With the visitors looking to celebrate Christmas and the New Year in the cold meadows of Munnar, the hotels and resorts here have reported a sharp surge in bookings for the season, said Vinod Vattekkattu, Managing Committee Member of Kerala Travel Mart. The hotels in Vagamon and Thekkady, too, have begun preparations to receive guests during the upcoming winter season.

Enjoy Munnar’s winter with KSRTC
KSRTC has launched two packages to Munnar for winter, a Vagamon – Munnar trip and a Munnar – Kanthalloor trip. The Vagamon – Munnar trip starts every Friday at 7 pm from Kannur KSRTC depot and reaches Munnar by Saturday, 6 am. The first day of the trip features Pine Valley Forest, Vagamon Meadows, Adventure Park, and more and the second day of the trip has Chathurangappara View Point, Gap Road View Point, Anayirangal Dam, and more as part of the itinerary. The package costs Rs 4,100.

The Munnar – Kanthalloor trip, for which seats are available for December 8 and 27, starts at 7 pm from Kannur depot. The first day covers Eravikulam National Park, Marayoor, an off-road safari covering various viewpoints, camp fire, and more. The next day, tourists will get to see Irachilpara and Periyakanal Waterfalls, various vegetable and fruit orchards, and more in Kanthalloor. The cost is Rs 2,960
