‘No reason’ a female leader who is pregnant can’t be elected premier: White

Tasmanian Opposition Leader Rebecca White says her campaign is an opportunity to show there is “no reason” a female leader who is pregnant can’t be elected premier in the state’s election. 

“A lot of women have no choice but to work while they’re pregnant and I’m no different,” she said.

“It certainly hasn’t been lost on me, the response I’ve received from the community, particularly from women who felt really encouraged by the fact that I’ve continued to stand my ground and campaigning hard every single day.

“And to provide an opportunity, I suppose, for people across our community to see that there is no reason why a female leader who’s pregnant can’t be elected premier of this state”.

“It actually hasn’t been misplaced on me, the response I’ve obtained from the group, notably from girls who felt actually inspired by the truth that I’ve continued to face my floor and campaigning arduous each single day.

“And to provide an opportunity, I suppose, for people across our community to see that there is no reason why a female leader who’s pregnant can’t be elected premier of this state”.
