NRL saves footy season by moving north

The NRL has confirmed all New South Wales based clubs will move to Queensland temporarily.

Nine Sydney-based NRL clubs, the New Zealand Warriors and Canberra Raiders will re-locate to the Gold Coast after obtaining necessary exemptions.

The league’s CEO Andrew Abdo conceded growing COVID-19 cases had forced the NRL’s hand.

It is estimated the competition would lose $25 million a week by closing down.
