Odisha occupies 2nd spot in terms of registrations in e-SHRAM portal
Odisha comes second in terms of registration in the e-SHRAM portal after Bihar. Over 21 lakh 69 thousand workers in the unorganised sector in Odisha have already registered themselves in the portal. AIR correspondent reports that in order to prepare a database of all the workers in the unorganised sector in the country, the union government has launched the e-SHRAM portal in August.
According to the economic survey 2019-20 there are an estimated 38 crore unorganised workers in the country out of which over one crore workers have already registered themselves in the portal. Once registered, the workers can avail the benefit of various social security and employment based schemes anywhere in the country by virtue of the digital e-SHRAM card that include a financial cover of two lakh rupees on death or permanent disability and half the amount on partial disability.
