PM wanted Afghan withdrawal extended

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has told Sky News he argued for a longer stay by the US in Afghanistan while people were being evacuated.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron reportedly argued at the G7 emergency talks, they wanted the deadline extended. 

“Ultimately, that was always going to be a function of the security situation on the ground,” Mr Morrison told Sky News Australia.
