Priya Ramani acquitted in MJ Akbar defamation case

A Delhi Court on Wednesday acquitted journalist Priya Ramani in a legal defamation case filed by former Union minister M J Akbar in opposition to her.

 

The Delhi Court whereas acquitting Ramani mentioned, “Woman has right to put her grievance even after decades.”

M J Akbar, the previous minister of state for exterior affairs, had filed a defamation case in opposition to the journalist Priya Ramani for accusing him of sexual misconduct.

Ramani was the primary lady to accuse Akbar of sexual harassment throughout the #MeToo marketing campaign.

The allegations levelled in opposition to him pressured him to resign from the Union Cabinet on October 17, 2018.
