Treat your palate with global cuisine at Qatar World Cup

Football fans who reach Qatar to watch the world cup games will get a splendid chance to taste some of the unique tastes and flavours from around the globe. From the iconic shawarma to the flavoursome North Indian dishes, the quaint Gulf nation will offer an incredible platter to the fans. Restaurants that cater to the needs of those who come from various countries, and eateries where variety of food items and drinks are served would be opened in the fan zones.

Interestingly, African, Asian, European cuisines and vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes will be available at the food courts in the fan zones and at the world cup venues too. India has been included in the list of the countries from where most number of fans have purchased tickets. Dishes like butter chicken, naan and vegetable samosas will be served for the Indian fans while fast food counters too would be opened for the Europeans.

There are around 3,000 Indian restaurants in Qatar including the ones where authentic Kerala cuisine is served. Besides, the kiosks of international food brands and restaurants too would be opened in the fan zones and at the Doha Corniche which is the carnival venue. Moreover, the star hotels have already prepared special menus for the football admirers.

Meanwhile, the Indian and Kerala hotels are busy preparing to serve authentic dishes and flavours to the native Arabs and the visiting football fans.

Special dishes

Fast food is expected to be the favourite in the football venues. Global food chains like McDonalds, KFC, Starbucks, Subway, Pizza Hut, Papa Jones, Hardee’s are likely to rake in profits. Besides different kinds of beef and chicken burgers and pizzas, fries, nachos, donuts, salads and salmon dishes too might have high demand.

Meanwhile, chicken-beef shawarma, barbecue, majboos, hummus, fattoush and kunafa are some of the authentic Middle Eastern dishes that are likely to impress the fans. Manakish that looks like a regular pizza is sure to impress the foodies from Europe. Arabic cheese, thyme and meat filling are spread on the classic Arabic bread to make Manakish.

It could be either enjoyed as slices or folded and eaten. Usually, people in the Gulf regions eat Manakish as breakfast or lunch. The Qatar World Cup is an incredible opportunity for the football fans from around the world to experience the incredible Middle Eastern cuisine.

Strict security measures

Qatar expects more than 12 millions football fans for the World Cup. Meanwhile, the authorities have begun the measures to ensure food safety. They are ensuring that there wouldn’t be shortage of food in the market. Stock records are being done the various supermarkets in the country. The authorities have given strict instructions that supermarkets, shops and restaurants should stock up enough food items.

The Municipality conducts regular inspections to ensure that there is no inflation in the food and hospitality sector. The authorities also conduct regular inspections at the Hamad and Al Ruwais ports to see that enough food grains are being exported and also to ensure its quality.
