Queensland CHO Dr Young’s AstraZeneca advice ‘dangerous’: Liberal MP

Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young’s advice not to get the AstraZeneca vaccine was “unhelpful” and “dangerous”, says Liberal MP Jason Falinski.

“Yes, what Jeannette Young did two days ago was unhelpful and, in some ways, dangerous,” he told Sky News Australia.

“And the campaign we have seen from the Labor party candidate for Higgins to lobby ATAGI, undermine AstraZeneca, which is a safe vaccine, has actually done a lot of damage to the vaccine rollout.

“We’re in a global pandemic, Australia is a part, and a small part of that and the government and the Australian people have worked very well and, in the end, if everything goes to plan, we’ll only be six weeks behind what we originally were even with all of ATAGI’s changed advice, even with the Italians.”
