The News & Observer’s Burger Bracket has formally reopened after a brief pause as a consequence of a technical glitch. Are you prepared to select the finalists?

After a razor skinny first round in the Raleigh Burger Bracket, Round 2 was an actual barn burner of burger fanaticism.

More than 11,000 individuals forged over 40,000 votes, greater than doubling the numbers from the first round, whittling our Raleigh burger quest right down to the last 4.

Moving on to Round 3 are:

Cowbar, Fine Folk, Neuse River Brewing and The Station.

That means three Raleigh burger giants fell in Round 2, as voters left the venerable Players’ Retreat and Char-Grill and in style MoJoe’s Burger Joint behind. Based on the Final Four, Raleigh’s burger love has shifted in direction of newcomers.

Just to recap, the News & Observer is in search of out Raleigh’s greatest burger. We began by narrowing the metropolis’s burger-sphere right down to 16 of Raleigh’s hottest native burgers. Some are icons, some are newbies, some are smash burgers, some are towering restaurant-style burgers served with a fabric serviette. All have made some contribution to Raleigh’s collective burger pleasure.

There are loads of nice burgers outdoors of Raleigh, and people burgers may have their day. This bracket is solely for homegrown burgers in Raleigh, excluding some extremely popular and really tasty chain burgers that originated elsewhere.

The third round of the Raleigh Burger Bracket begins on Thursday, Oct. 14, and might be open till midday Tuesday, Oct. 19. Vote in the present day to select your two favorites from the grid under.
