Rare snake species spotted in N’kurnool
NAGARKURNOOL : Forest Department officers of Nagarkurnool district have recognized a uncommon species of snake known as Shieldtail alongside the Domalapenta vary of Amrabad Tiger Reserve. Shieldtails are innocent, primitive, burrowing snakes endemic to southern India and Sri Lanka.
They develop as much as 25 – 50 cm in size and transfer round solely at night time. Jadcherla Government Degree College Zoology Lecturer Dr Sadasivaiah, who can also be a snake rescuer, mentioned that the snakes dig their very own tunnels and reside underground.
