Real Madrid Beat Barcelona In A Thrilling El Clasico To Reach Spanish Super Cup Final

Real Madrid reaches the final of the Spanish Super Cup after defeating arch-rivals FC Barcelona in a fiercely fought El Clasico. This is the fifth-straight Clasico victory for Real. 

It was a thrilling El Clasico that went down the wire and Madrid secured the victory only after scoring the third goal in extra time. The match ended in a 3-2 win for Real Madrid. 

Vinicius Junior scored first for Madrid in the 25th minute. His goal was followed by an equalizer by de Jong in the 41st minute. Karim Benzema and Ansu Fati scored another two goals in the second half ending the 90 minutes at 2-2. 

The match went into extra time when Federico Valverde scored in the 98th minute to make the score 3-2.

It was a closely fought El Clasico when Madrid came out as victorious. “It was clear that it was a day when we showed courage and took responsibility with the ball. Today was a day to go out with your head held high despite the defeat,” said Xavi after the match.

“We were superior to Madrid in many moments,” he added.

Real Madrid will now face Atletico Madrid or Athletic Bilbao in the finals of the Spanish Super Cup.
