Regional Victoria lockdown ‘against’ hotspot definition

Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says the fact that regional Victoria is locked down seems to go against the hotspot definition.

“I can completely understand the frustrations of Victorians about this, I’m not seeking to blame anyone for this particular outbreak,” Mr Canavan told Sky News.

“This one probably could have happened anywhere, we are living through a global pandemic. We try and reduce risk to all Australians, but we cannot reduce the risk to zero.

Mr Canavan said he agrees with most of the decisions imposed by the state government, aside from some rules in regional Victoria.

“It’s right to impose some restrictions where outbreaks are occurring and let’s hope they can get on top of them.”
