Ronaldo Set For Juventus Contract Talks | Sports Pundit

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future with Juventus remains in limbo with the Portuguese star set for fresh contract talks following the conclusion of the 2020-21 Serie A season.

Juventus secured a top four berth, and UEFA Champions League qualification, with a final day win against Bologna helping them leapfrog Napoli who drew 1-1 with Hellas Verona.

Champions League qualification was essential for Juve, who fell off their perch under new coach Andrea Pirlo in 2020-21 after nine consecutive Serie A titles.

Qualifying for Europe’s top competition also was significant for Cristiano Ronaldo’s future in Turin, having been linked with a move to the United States or even a return to Manchester United.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has another year to run on his Juve contract, but was set to exit if they missed the top four.

Ronaldo wrote on Instagram on Monday: “This year we couldn’t win Serie A, congratulations to Inter for the well deserved title. However, I have to value everything that we achieved this season at Juventus, both in collective and individual terms.

“The Italian Super Cup, the Italian Cup and the Serie A Top Scorer trophy fill me with happiness, mainly due to the difficulty they carry with them, in a country where nothing is easy to win.

“With these achievements, I reached a goal that I had set myself since the first day I arrived in Italy: to win the Championship, the Cup and the Super Cup, and also to be Best Player and Top Scorer in this great football country filled with tremendous players, giant clubs and a very own football culture.

“Thanks to everyone who took part in this journey! We stand together!”

Ronaldo won Serie A’s top scorer award this term with 29 goals, finishing ahead of Romelu Lukaku who netted 24 for champions Inter Milan.
