Two brothers’ desire for serving authentic steaks led to the creation of Kochi’s one of the favourite food spots, 3rd Cross Steakhouse and Grills. Nishad B Shah and Hashir B Shah, after completing their engineering graduation, opened ‘3CSG’ at Panampilly Nagar, one of Kochi’s prime locations, in April 2022.
The restaurant is much loved by its customers for the steaks it offers in a choice of seven cuts of meat at reasonable prices. “We are offering an unmatched choice of steaks that no other restaurant in Kochi serves,” said chef Subi Mathew. Subi, who has over 16 years of experience in the culinary industry, worked as a chef for the Royal Caribbean Cruise Company before joining this restaurant. He said that the team primarily focuses on providing a fine dining experience for their customers, serving them flavour-packed and tender high-quality steaks.
“Most importantly, we ask our customers’ about their preferences. Some might like to see a pink tint from all the juices inside the meat, so we make a rare one for them. Others mostly prefer a well-done one,” said Subi.
He went on to stress the importance of providing customers with a meal with complementary components and flavours. “Our signature dishes, such as the Grilled Atlantic Salmon, Herb Grilled Jumbo Prawns, Lamp Chops, and Cottage Cheese Steak, are served with herbed rice, grilled tomatoes and buttered vegetables, as well as an accompaniment- Mashed Potato, Sweet Potatoes or Peas Mash- and a sauce of choice—Chimichuri, Red Wine, Mushroom, or Pepper. Appetizers come with an in-house salad and skewers with a sauce, pickled vegetables and garlic bread,” he said.
In a candid conversation, while sipping a Chamomile tea, Nishad mentioned that he and his brother were never sceptical about starting a food business in Kochi. “We started out with a lot of confidence. During the Covid phase, we confirmed the restaurant’s location, style, and menu. We always knew that good food would draw customers and picking Kochi as our location was the right choice,” said Nishad.
“Our top emphasis has always been providing top-notch meals. Our restaurant’s meat is packaged, marked, and stored in accordance with standards for food safety. Maintaining food hygiene is considered a serious matter in our restaurant,” he added.
Chef Subi noted that they often ask their customers to try every dish on the menu at least once during their visits. He added, “Our customers usually order steaks, especially the Supreme one. This is the perfect spot if you want to try steak for the first time.”
