Seattle police officers denied service at chocolate shop

A Seattle chocolate shop stated it was working to create a extra “inviting, inclusive and cohesive community” after reviews of an worker allegedly refusing to serve a pair of police officers.

Mike Solan, president of the Seattle Police Officers Guild, informed Fox News that an officer and officer trainee walked right into a Chocolati Cafes retailer within the Wallingford neighborhood after they had been refused service. 

“They were met with a bit of hostility,” he stated. “But based upon the amount of pushback that company has received from the public and across the nation is that people are still really supportive of the police.”

In a message posted to its Facebook web page on Wednesday, Chocolati stated the worker’s actions don’t signify the corporate.

“Although we do respect this team member’s freedom of speech, the actions in this instance do not represent our views as a company,” the assertion learn. “Discrimination is not a practice that we believe will heal the divide within our city, and we are committed to being a safe and welcoming place for every one of our neighbors.”

Calls to the shop location went unanswered. 

Solan stated he’s keen to satisfy with the worker to have a dialogue. 

“I’m hopeful that this employee can get informed,” he stated. “I commend the company’s ownership for taking it seriously.”

The Post Millenial reported that workers at the shop have proven disdain for police officers previously. A 3rd officer informed the outlet he was refused service at one other Chocolati location. 

The incident comes at a time when the Seattle Police Department is shedding officers. Nearly 180 police officers give up final yr and one other 66 officers thus far this yr, Police Chief Adrian Diaz stated.
