Bollywood star Sonu Sood on Monday (September 20) finally broke silence on the Income Tax Department ‘survey’ at his offices, property and residence. Sonu Sood penned a note on social media and said that he does not need to tell ‘his side of the story.’ According to the actor, every rupee of his foundation is meant for the benefits of needy. Sonu Sood claimed that he was unable to help people for a few days as he was attending guests. The actor assured that he will soon return to help the people in need.
“Every rupee in my foundation is awaiting its turn to save a precious life and reach the needy. In addition, on many occasions, I have encouraged brands to donate my endorsement fees for humanitarian causes too, which keeps us going,” the actor wrote.

On Saturday, the Central Board of Direct Taxes had accused Sonu Sood and his associates of evading tax of Rs 20 crore. Acording to CBDT, after the actor and a lucknow-basaed company was raided by Income Tax Department, it was found that he routed his “unaccounted income in the form of bogus unsecured loans from many bogus entities”. Sonu Sood is also accused of violating the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) while raising donations from abroad.
“During the course of search at the premises of the actor and his associates, incriminating evidence pertaining to tax evasion has been found. The main modus operandi followed by the actor had been to route his unaccounted income in the form of bogus unsecured loans from many bogus entities,” the CBDT said, in a statement.
