Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Sunday extended the ban on rallies and public meetings in the state until January 20 in light of the rapidly emerging cases of Omicron virus.
On January 1, a GONo 1 was issued by the (*20*) Secretary banning rallies, public meetings and mass gatherings of all kinds of “trends”, including religious, political and cultural events to control the spread of the virus.
The decision was taken on the basis of the instructions of Telangana’s Prime Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) after a review meeting was held at Pragathi Bhavan, including including (*20*) Secretary Somesh Kumar and other senior officials of the health department. The GO has been extended until January 20th.
The management of public transport, shops, malls, institutions, offices was also instructed to ensure mandatory wearing of masks, maintain physical distance, regular disinfection of premises, provision for hand hygiene and screening at access points with IR thermometer / thermal scanners.
